Great to see 3 films of Leo Asemota under one roof... the Contemporary Rooms at EoTLA. Three cinematic performances from his monumental Ens project. And together with these films the materials, the objects, the Trace that occured before during and after the performances. Objects from the films made deliciously present in the gallery space.

14 years ago I found myself in creative cahoots with Leo Asemota on ‘Spoonman’, the first of our many collaborations. The film camera was Leo’s own. A Russian 16mm Krasnogorsk that was quite frankly terrifying. The actors flinched when it turned over, its coffee-grounder machinations so loud. It sounded like it was damaging the film, and it was.

More sculpture than book, Leo Asemota's concertinaed "Testimony" is currently being exhibited in London. Glad to have been part of the collaboration with the "Reading" film.
"Testimony" is currently on display in the "From the Artists Book Collection" at the Staurt Hall Library.
