Hair visionary Anthony Mascolo and director Michael Lindsay joined forces once again to create eXoChromatic for Infringe magazine. Working with performance artist and model Bre Lembitz the challenge was to produce simultaneous motion and stills for the magazine.,this given the unrepeatability of the action. Shooting under heavy rain machines at 16oz Studio, the end result was striking in both mediums.
The creative brief involved Bre’s metamorphosis… from a raven-esque black head to a vibrant multi-coloured hairstyle… this through the mechanism of a violent storm. Working with water in a studio and together with the large amount of light needed for simultaneous Phantom high-speed photography and Lightening Effects provided us with plenty of challenges. Bre’s enormous stamina throughout a long day under torrents of water was outstanding!
Shooting at 8K resolution on the Red Monstro VistaVision camera we were also able to produce high resolution stills from the motion, taking full advantage in print of the Raw colour space of the camera.
For the few bursts of extreme high speed we went to a 4K Phantom camera.
See the project in its completion on Infringe here, motion, stills and a small BTS film too.:
